About the Show

From executive producers Hart Hanson, Barry Josephson and Stephen Nathan comes the fifth exciting season of Bones, a darkly amusing procedural with humor, heart and character, inspired by real-life forensic anthropologist and novelist Kathy Reichs.

Dr. Temperance Brennan (Emily Deschanel) is a highly skilled forensic anthropologist who works at the Jeffersonian Institute in Washington, DC, and writes novels as a sideline. When the standard methods of identifying a body are useless—when the remains are so badly decomposed, burned or destroyed that CSI gives up—law enforcement calls in Brennan for her uncanny ability to read clues left behind in the victim’s bones.

Most law enforcement can’t handle Brennan’s intelligence, her drive for the truth, or the way she flings herself headlong into every investigation. Special Agent Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz) of the FBI’s Homicide Investigations Unit is the exception. A former Army sniper, Booth mistrusts science and scientists—the "squints," as he calls them—who pore over the physical evidence of a crime. But even he cannot deny that the combination of his people-smarts and Brennan’s scientific acumen makes them a formidable team.

Popular UK actor John Barrowman (Torchwood, Doctor Who) has joined the cast of Arrow in a mysterious, recurring role, EW reports. The CW drama also added newcomer Emily Bett Rickards as DC Comics character "Felicity Smoak," an IT wizard; and Byron Mann (Street Fighter, Catwoman) as an "enigmatic man with a complex connection to Oliver Queen/Arrow."

The new CW kids lineup, Vortexx, premieres next Saturday morning (Aug. 25), with no shortage of superheroes—including the Power Rangers, Iron Man and the Justice League. Anime favorites Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL and Dragonball Z Kai are also featured; along with the new live-action WWE Saturday Morning Slam.

Ryan Lochte, the 11-time Olympic medalist, guest-stars on the fourth episode of 90210 this fall, says zap2it. The 28-year-old swimmer is slated for a run-in with Naomi and Max. Fellow Olympian Gabby "The Flying Squirrel" Douglas may soon land on The Vampire Diaries after tweeting that it's one of her favorite shows. The cast taped a good-luck video for the gymnast, and EP Julie Plec extended an invitation.

Country singer and Broadway star Laura Bell Bundy (Legally Blonde: The Musical) brings her talents to Hart of Dixie for at least two episodes this fall. The Tony Award nominee is a potential love interest for George (Scott Porter), cites THR. Another visitor to Bluebell is Charlie Robinson (Night Court), playing the surly granddad of Lavon's ex-girlfriend (Golden Brooks).
